Alternatives to a Shopify Plus agency, for stores that have outgrown their first setup
Shopify Plus starts at €2,100 per month on Shopify’s own pricing page, and Plus partner agencies usually work with stores at that level. If your store is growing but you are not sure Plus, or a Plus agency, is the next step, these are the options owners compare.

What you pay for with Shopify Plus
Shopify’s pricing page lists Plus from €2,100 per month, with 1-year and 3-year terms, and a 0.2% fee on payments that go through third-party payment providers.
Shopify’s Partner Directory shows agencies in four tiers: Select, Plus, Premier and Platinum. You can filter partners by location, services and price, and read their reviews before you contact them.
The alternatives
Ordered from the smallest change to your current setup to the largest. Costs are quoted from the providers’ own pages or public profiles, opened on 8 November 2026.
1. A standard Shopify plan, with a narrower set of apps
Many stores reach Plus because of one missing feature. Check whether a standard plan and one or two apps cover it before you change plan or agency.
- Best for
- Stores with one clear gap, such as a checkout rule or a report.
- Cost
- Monthly plan prices are listed on Shopify’s pricing page.

2. A Shopify partner from another tier, or a freelancer
The Partner Directory lists Select and Premier partners and individual developers next to Plus partners, with their reviews and starting prices.
- Best for
- Defined work on an existing store: a theme change, an app setup, a migration.
- Cost
- Starting prices are shown on each partner’s directory profile.

3. An in-house Shopify developer
A developer on your payroll knows the store and your team, and fixes things the same day. You carry the hiring, the holidays and the risk of one person holding all the knowledge.
- Best for
- Stores with a steady flow of changes every week.
- Cost
- A salary and its taxes, every month, whether or not there is work.
4. A WooCommerce agency
WooCommerce is open source and runs on WordPress, with no monthly platform fee. You pay for hosting, extensions and the people who maintain it.
- Best for
- Owners who want control of the code and the hosting, with a partner who maintains it.
- Cost
- No platform subscription; hosting, extensions and maintenance are on you.

5. An Adobe Commerce (Magento) partner
Adobe Commerce is chosen for large catalogues and complex B2B rules, with a specialist partner for build and support.
- Best for
- Large catalogues and B2B with customer-specific prices and approvals.
- Cost
- Higher build budgets: in Dublin, Monsoon Consulting lists Min. project $50,000+, $300+/hr (Clutch).
